How far are you from Crater Lake National Park?
We are 15 miles from the sough gate entrance to the park. It will take 20-30 minutes to reach the gate. Then it is 7 miles from the gate to the rim.
Do you accept pets? Yes, we do accept pets on the property. It is a $25 fee per pet for the length of the stay.
Where is the nearest restaurant? There is a dining room at the lodge at Crater Lake National Park. In the peak of the season it is advised to make a reservation for dinner but breakfast and lunch is not necessary. Anne Creek at the Crater Lake south gate entrance, is approximately 15 miles from us, and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other options are south of us approximately 10 miles.
Are there grocery stores in Ft. Klamath? There are no full service grocery stores. There is a small organic store walking distance from us. There is also a small convenience store 3 miles south of us at Crater Lake Resort. If you are traveling from the south, Klamath Falls is the last place before you reach us to find a full service grocery store. From the west if you go through Medford that would be the last available place and going south on Interstate 5 depending on the route you take either Eugene or Roseburg are the last towns with full service stores. Traveling south down Hwy 97 it would be the town of LaPine.
What is the weather like in the summer? It will always be a little cooler at the rim of the park because the elevation is 7,000 feet. It is always good to bring a jacket. The average temperature in June is in the 70’s. July and Aug can get into the 80’s but there is generally a nice breeze in the afternoon and the evenings are cooler.
Do you have WIFI? Though we do not have televisions we do have High speed internet.
What activities are there for children? There is plenty of lawn around the houses and lots of room to play ball and other lawn games. We have adult bicycles and both bikes and wagons for small children. On Saturdays south on Hwy 97 is a miniature train park that gives free train rides from 10:00-3:00.
What other activities are in the area besides visiting Crater Lake? The Wood River flows through town and some people enjoy river rafting. There is fishing on the Wood River and the Williamson River. There are canoe trails within 15 minutes from us on the north end of Klamath Lake. There is the old Ft. Klamath museum 2 miles away as well the Collier Park Logging Museum just 5-10 miles north on Hwy 97. Bird watching is another pastime at the bird sanctuary south of us about 5 -10 miles.
